Our Leadership

Experience, expertise, work ethic, high standards: It’s all vital. And our people bring all of that and more to the table. But without good people, what’s the point? When you partner with Missoula Engineering, you’re getting all the important knowledge and expertise, plus the quality of character that makes collaboration seamless, successful and enjoyable. Integrity, kindness, compassion, great listening skills, genuine handshakes and authentic desire - or obsession, in our case - to help people solve problems... that’s how we work.

Our team brings a diverse engineering skillset backed by education, experience and certifications, with work in both the public and private sectors. We take pride in our work. For us, it’s personal. After all, this is our home. It’s where our families live, work and play, so we strive for the betterment of our community in every project we take on.

James Sage

Principal, Senior Project Manager

Missoula born and raised, James comes by his love of the outdoors naturally. He also comes by his vocation the same way. As a kid, his backyard could best be described as a "future engineer's playground". His father owned and operated a welding and machine shop on their property, and James spent countless hours watching his dad tear down heavy machinery, welding parts, machining and then re-assembling. James tried to mimic this process on his own toys, taking them apart and putting them back together. That's what sparked his passion.

Later, James found himself on a project rebuilding Camp Muir - a base camp on Mt. Rainier. Working with a group of seasoned civil and structural engineers, he discovered his career path.

James attended Montana State University's civil engineering program, but has remained a Griz at heart. He spends his free time on Montana's rivers and lakes, or cross-country skiing through Missoula winters with his wife Jenna - our Project Coordinator.

Jenna Sage

Project Coordinator

Jenna hails from the Pacific Northwest, where she grew up with the Cascade Mountains in her backyard. Her adventurous spirit can be directly attributed to weekends spent camping, hiking and skiing with her family. She was raised to embrace the outdoors, and she brings this passion to Missoula Engineering.

After obtaining her degree in Communications from Central Washington University, Jenna traveled across the northern hemisphere as a cruise ship photographer, capturing dramatic landscapes and their accompanying tourists.

When Jenna announced that she was moving to Montana, it came as no surprise. So, when she's not here with us, you'll probably find her out hiking, running, floating, paddleboarding or cross-country skiing with her husband (our very own James Sage) here in her new backyard.
